I stopped in last Wednesday. I emailed Gladys Kitchen and attached some photos I have of Pawnee in the late 19th century. I have a bunch more to send.

My family well dads side is from the good ole' Pawnee and My grandpa and 2 brothers (I, believe ) ran the '' Piggly Wiggly '' grocery Store. I miss the town deeply. So much love and hard work and history. Every time someone ask me ''where would you go if you need a vacation to enjoy and relax'' I always recommend Pawnee Oklahoma, Any time of the year it's a sure thing to take your breath away! |

I was watching the History on Tv and see a story on a Man Name LT. Col Ernest Edwin Evans (13 August 1908–25 October 1944) He was an officer of the United States Navy who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions during World War II.
I see that he was Three quarters Cherokee Indian, Evans was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1931.
Does your city recognize Him?

I got to live in Pawnee for several months and I really miss it sometimes. You suprisingly have a lot to offer for a small town. Pawnee Bill's buffalo ranch and Pawnee Lake truly are two of the greatest places to visit-daily!
I paid a penny for my little one to ride the horse in that main street store (I'm sorry I don't remember the name of it)like her daddy did 35 years ago! I also enjoyed the annual Pawnee Nation Pow-wow in July. |

My grandparents lived in House Creek during the 1930 census. Where is that now? Thanks for the info. I have found several families mentioned in my grandmother's diary of 1929. They were farmers. |

Dana,
I am a Lifetime member of the PCHS & would like to know about the First Family Project to see if I qualify. I have been to your great museum several times & visited your daughter & husband taking pictures of the Miller homestead since I am a descendant of Chester Gould through his mother. Please e-mail me a form or what I need to document to prove this First Family status.

Could i get email address of someone up there to whom i might send a question. my wife and I are planning a trip (likely next summer) to various places in Oklahoma, including (maybe) Pawnee county. My wife lived in Quay when her father worked for an oil company in 30's. We think Quay is in Pawnee county.... right? wrong? The main thing we are looking for is some photo(s) of Quay in the oil boom days. It is pretty quiet now. Thanks for any info.
Re Hallett depot photo: (a) I'd love to get a copy of scanned photo. (b) my railroad timetable book (reprint) shows both MKT and Frisco lines running through there. Couple of trains a day each way for each line. Comment was posted by Bill Parrish in October. If you can give me his email i will write him. or you give him mine (mullo25@).
I am interested in trains. My wife interested in Okla because she born in hospital at Stillwater while parents lived in Quay. I do have a photo (via email ) of tank car train near Quay - presumably on the line east of Quay (running north/south). If i can find it now i will email it to you if you want it or have a way to park it somewhere. Got via internet from (?) University of California Berkeley... located via Google scan.
